A menu says a lot about a restaurant. It shows what the kitchen is confident about, what the people eating there actually enjoy, and how much thought has gone into the choices on the page. A long menu is easy to build. A menu where every dish has a reason to be there takes more work.
The new Platesman menu was built with that second idea in mind. It is the biggest update the menu has seen so far, but the goal was never simply to add more dishes. The goal was to grow the sections people kept asking about, bring in flavours that fit the way Pune eats, and make sure every table, whether it is a group of friends, a family with children, or someone dining alone, has more good options than before.
The result is a menu with fuller rice bowls, a clear coastal thread, soft shell tacos, a wider range of flatbreads, a new burger section, and an expanded kids menu. Here is what changed, and the thinking behind it.
Every Plate Has to Earn Its Place

Platesman has never been loyal to one particular cuisine. It is a fusion food eatery, and the loyalty is to the people eating, not to a single style of cooking. That gives the menu freedom, but it also needs discipline. Without a clear rule, a fusion menu can quickly become a collection of random dishes that do not belong together.
The rule at Platesman is simple. A dish earns its place on the menu only if two things are true. Guests genuinely want it, and the kitchen can make it well, every single time.
The first part comes from listening. The Indian rice bowls, for example, were originally added because customers kept asking for them. That pattern of requests, repeat orders, and honest feedback shaped much of this update too.
The second part is just as important. A dish that tastes great once but cannot be repeated consistently does not belong on an everyday menu. Every new addition had to fit the kitchen, use ingredients that can be kept fresh, and arrive at the table tasting the same whether it is a busy weekend lunch or a quiet weekday dinner.
This approach also protects value. Adding dishes only for novelty or to follow trends often means more specialised ingredients, more waste, and a more complicated kitchen. Those costs eventually show up in pricing. Growing the sections people already love keeps the menu exciting without making it unnecessarily expensive.
Curry Rice Bowls: A Complete Meal in One Bowl

The biggest change on the new menu is the expanded Curry Rice Bowls section. The idea behind it is straightforward: one bowl should be a complete, filling meal on its own, with no need to build a plate from three different sections.
The range starts close to home. The Rajma Rice Bowl and Chole Rice Bowl are home-style curries served with jeera rice, the kind of food many people grew up eating and still crave on an ordinary weekday. They are simple, honest, and comforting, which is exactly why they belong here.
From there, the bowls travel. The Thai Curry comes in Green, Yellow, and Red, with fragrant coconut milk curry served with basil butter rice. The Teriyaki Rice Bowl brings teriyaki-glazed vegetables and stir-fried greens over burnt garlic rice. The Burmese-style Khow Suey pairs coconut curry with noodles, finished with crispy garlic, fried onions, lime, and peanuts, so every spoonful has a little crunch and brightness.
There are also comfort crossovers that blur the lines between cuisines. The Veggie Stroganoff serves vegetables in a rich, creamy sauce with herb rice, while the Peri Peri Paneer Rice Bowl brings spicy grilled paneer over flavoured rice.
Taken together, the section reflects how people actually eat. Some days comfort means rajma and rice. Other days it means a Thai curry or a bowl of Khow Suey. The new menu does not ask anyone to choose one kind of comfort forever.
A Coastal Thread Running Through the Menu

One of the clearest stories in the new menu is the coastal flavour running through several sections. Goan and Mangalorean cooking are loved across Pune, but finding them done well in a relaxed, everyday setting is not always easy.
In the Curry Rice Bowls, the Goan Curry is a fragrant coastal coconut curry served with steamed rice or poee, the soft Goan bread made for mopping up every bit of curry. The Cafreal Chicken brings Goan chicken in a fiery green masala of coriander, chilli, and spices. The Xacuti Bowl is a rich Goan curry of roasted coconut and warm spices, served with poee or steamed rice.
The same thread continues beyond the bowls. On the Flatbreads section, the Ghee Roast Chicken brings spicy Mangalorean ghee roast chicken on a crisp base, balanced with a hint of pickled onions. The Balchão Prawns flatbread carries tangy, spicy Goan prawns simmered in a fiery, vinegar-laced red pickle masala. And in the Tacos section, the new Prawn Balchão Taco pairs those same tangy prawns with a raw mango salsa.
This is not a separate Goan menu bolted onto the side. It is a flavour thread that appears in different formats, so someone who loves coastal food can have it as a hearty bowl, a sharing flatbread, or a quick taco.
Soft Shell Tacos, Kept Simple on Purpose

The tacos on the new menu are served in soft shells only. That was a deliberate decision. A soft shell holds generous fillings without breaking, stays easy to eat, and lets the filling be the hero of every bite.
The Crispy Cottage Cheese Taco brings crunch from the filling itself, with crispy cottage cheese, peppers, and cheese sauce. The Char-Grilled Broccoli Taco pairs smoky broccoli with a truffle-style aioli for a creamy finish. The Cajun Chicken Taco keeps things clean and sharp, with Cajun-spiced chicken, lettuce, and sour cream.
The newest addition is the Prawn Balchão Taco, with prawns tossed in tangy Goan balchão masala and finished with raw mango salsa. It brings the coastal thread into a format that works perfectly as a starter for the table or a light meal on its own.
Flatbreads for Every Mood

The Flatbreads section has grown into one of the most flexible parts of the menu. Each one is built on a crisp base and made to be shared, which makes them a natural fit for groups who want to try a little of everything.
For vegetarians, there is the Exotic Veggies flatbread with mixed vegetables, herbs, and light cheese, the Peri Peri Cottage Cheese with grilled cottage cheese in mild peri peri seasoning, and the Butter Garlic Mushroom with a subtle garlic-butter finish, which can also be made with prawns.
For familiar favourites, there is the Thai Basil Chicken with coconut and lemongrass, the Peri Peri Chicken, the Cajun Chicken with fresh peppers and herbs, and the BBQ Chicken, glazed in a rich, tangy barbecue sauce.
And for those who want something bolder, the Mangalorean Ghee Roast Chicken and Goan Balchão Prawns bring the coastal flavours into a sharing format.
That range is the point. A table of four can order three different flatbreads and find something for the cautious eater, the spice lover, and the person who always wants to try the newest thing.
Burgers for the Quick, Casual Meal

The new menu also introduces a Burgers section, made for the days when a quick, satisfying meal is exactly what is needed.
The Veg Burger features a crispy, house-made vegetarian patty topped with melted yellow cheddar and fresh lettuce. The Grilled Chicken Burger layers juicy grilled chicken with savoury chicken ham, a fried egg, and crisp lettuce.
Both are built for the quick lunch break, the casual dinner, and the moments when someone wants comfort food they can pick up with their hands.
A Bigger Kids Menu for Family Tables

Families have always been an important part of the Platesman table, and the expanded Kids Menu was built with them in mind.
Eating out with children often means compromise. Parents end up ordering around what the children will eat, sharing from their own plates, or choosing a restaurant based entirely on whether it has something the youngest person at the table will accept. The expanded Kids Menu is designed to remove that worry.
It now covers the favourites children actually ask for: Mini Margherita Pizza, Tomato Sauce Spaghetti, Mac & Cheese, Veg Hakka Noodles, Veg Fried Rice, and Veg Mini Bun Sliders. The noodles, fried rice, and sliders can also be made with chicken, which gives older children and pickier eaters a little more choice.
The bigger idea is simple. Platesman wants to be a place where a family can sit down together, with every person ordering something they are genuinely happy with, without anyone having to compromise.
One Favourite, Your Way

Customisation runs through the new menu. Many of the vegetarian bowls and plates can be made with chicken, and several can be made with prawns.
The Goan Curry, Thai Curry Green and Yellow, Khow Suey, and Xacuti Bowl can all be made with either chicken or prawns. The Teriyaki Rice Bowl, Veggie Stroganoff, and Peri Peri Paneer Rice Bowl can be made with chicken. The Butter Garlic Mushroom flatbread can be made with prawns.
This keeps the menu manageable while giving people real choice. The same favourite works whether someone eats vegetarian, chicken, or seafood, and friends with different preferences can still order the same dish and enjoy their own version of it.
What Stays the Same
Not everything on the menu needed to change. Some things are the foundation of Platesman, and they carry through every new addition.
The food is freshly prepared, made with high-quality ingredients, and uses 100% real dairy products. The all-day menu still means breakfast people, lunch people, and dinner people all have something waiting for them. Pricing stays accessible, because Platesman is built to be an everyday eatery, not a place reserved only for special occasions.
There is also a part of every visit that reaches beyond the table. A part of Platesman’s profits goes to the Nelda Foundation for tree plantation in Pune. Every meal contributes, in a small way, to a greener city.
Why the New Menu Is Worth Coming Back For

The new Platesman menu is not just longer. It is more complete. Curry Rice Bowls turn a single bowl into a full meal. The coastal thread brings Goan and Mangalorean flavours into bowls, flatbreads, and tacos. Soft shell tacos keep every filling front and centre. The Flatbreads section offers something for every mood, the Burgers handle quick casual meals, and the expanded Kids Menu makes family meals easier for everyone.
Behind all of it is the same rule that has always guided Platesman: a dish earns its place only if people want it and the kitchen can make it well.
The best way to experience the new menu is the same way people have always experienced Platesman. Come in with family or friends, order a few different things, share a bite from each plate, and find your new favourite. And when someone asks where to eat next, the answer might simply be, “Let’s try the new menu at Platesman.”
